Not even ice and snow could stop the 1st Top-Eventers-Sale in Bavendorf from being a success.

During the last couple of weeks it had started to look as if the snow was finally going to disappear and give spring a chance. However a change in the weather resulted in heavy snowfall on Friday night, which made the journey to Bavendorf on Saturday no fun. The conditions on the roads and the fact that some of the motorways were closed prevented some visitors from getting there at all.

However Elmar Lesch and Iris Schless are both more than happy with the results of their first weekend sale. “We have been having about 1000 visitors per day on our website since the collection was first announced. Many clients, who were interested, rang straight away and fixed a date to try out a horse before the actual sales. More than half the horses have already found new owners and further contracts are on the verge of being signed”

Both professional and amateur riders showed interest in the total of 22 horses on offer. One horse will be travelling to the USA; two are going to Switzerland and one to Sweden. One of the young horses was bought by the sponsors of a previous Olympic female rider. Clients who had previously bought at The Top-Event-Horse Auctions, also found something suitable at the sale at Elmar Lesch’s Riding Centre.

Elmar Lesch is optimistic for the future, “With the Top-Eventers-Sales we have created a second platform our clients, which enables them to find a suitable horse at the very beginning of the season. The high quality of the horses offered has the same importance at the sales as at the auction. The success of Top-Eventers previously sold via the auction has prompted us to stick to our policy of high quality. There can be no discussion about quality and we are not prepared to accept a compromise for either the auction or the sales. The horses included in our premiere collection are proof of this, several full siblings to horses which were successful at the German National Championships for 5 and 6 year olds and eventers with high placings in International events, what more could you wish for!”

After making a name for itself as an auction for elite Three-Day-Event horses in Germany and abroad, Elmar Lesch and Iris Schless have carefully listened to requests from their clients and are introducing the Top-Eventers Sales as a further sales platform for prospective buyers.

At the beginning of the 2010 season, the first weekend of March will see a collection of talented and thoroughbred-type Three-Day-Eventers presented for sale. They are aged between 4 and 8 years and are at various levels of training. Directly at Elmar Lesch’s equestrian centre in Bavendorf, clients can find here youngsters full of promise or reputed horses with experience and placings at shows. All ready to jump on and enter at the first shows!

Please find below information about the timetable for this weekend and important points concerning the course of the Sales Days. We stress that this is not an auction.

Useful Information

Details of horses.
Approximately two weeks before the above-mentioned date there will be information on our homepage with a list of the horses for sale giving information regarding their breeding lines, size, with a short description.

The size will be put into the following categories:
S = <1.63 cm
M = 1.63 – 1.68 cm
L = > 1.68 cm

Approximately one week before the Sales Days, the horses that are to  be presented for sale will be available for viewing in the internet with pictures and possibly videos.

Presentation and trial rides.
From 10.00 am the horses will be presented by the riders in groups of two, three or four. It is planned to run these presentations until 2.00 pm to give ample opportunity to see the horses at work and after this, it will be possible to have a trial ride.  Food and beverages will be available.

Will the horses be auctioned?
No. This event is specifically titled Sales Days because it is not an auction. The prices are negotiable. To give potential buyers an idea of the expected price, the horses on offer will be put into the following categories:

Category I: from 6.000 Euro
Category II: from 10.000 Euro
Category III: from 15.000 Euro
Category IV: from 20.000 Euro

Signature of a bill of sale and payment.
The bill of sale is strictly between the owner and client. Top-Eventers GmbH acts upon the behalf of the owner of the horse for sale. Upon signing the contract, a deposit of 10% of the purchasing price is due. This deposit acts as a method for both sides to cover themselves. In the case of the horse not being purchased, this amount will be retained as a processing charge.

Does the purchased horse have to be collected immediately?
No, it is possible to leave the horse at Elmar Lesch’s equestrian centre until you have the chance to collect it. A fee will be charged. We can recommend various transport firms and would be happy to help with this organization. Additionally, we would gladly be of assistance with the further schooling of your new mount.

What is the procedure when several people are interested in buying the same horse?
Generally the first person who commits him/herself to a binding sale is the new owner. The seller of the horse is, however, not necessarily under pressure to sell to anybody but can state his/her preference.

Veterinary Health Certificate.
All horses are put through a clinical examination and x-ray examination (12 pictures).  Prospective buyers have a good opportunity to gain detailed information by contacting our veterinarian Dr. Neuberg Tel: +49 (0) 4172 220 / e-mail: mail@neuberg-spitzlei.de.

Accommodation in the vicinity of the equestrian centre.
